Oscar Time!

Ahh, I love the Oscars. They really are my Super Bowl. The last two weekends the local AMC theater hosted a movie marathon of the Best Picture nominees. This past Saturday I went with a couple of fellow movie-buff friends and we watched 5 of the 9 flicks.

Hugo
The Help
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
The Artist
Midnight in Paris

SO GOOD!!! The theater was filled with folks who love great movies & great stories. We all gathered our snacks and blankets and 3D glasses (for Hugo) and settled in for the day. During the breaks between the movies, the theater staff came in and held trivia sessions, giving away all sorts of cool prizes. Such a fun day.

Then my roomie and I hosted an Oscar party last night. We had a signature "Red Carpet Fizz" drink with plenty of appetizers. Everyone brought a movie-themed dish. There were pretzels and pigs-in-a-blanket for "Moneyball." Black corn chips with white cheddar Rotel dip for "The Artist." French pastries for "Midnight in Paris." Pineapple slices for "The Descendants." And of course chocolate pie for "The Help"...without the special ingredient. ;) And so much more. Oh, the food!

I was having so much fun playing "Oscar Bingo" and making predictions for the winners that I totally forgot to take pictures. Just trust me. It was awesome. Now, I'm off to the gym to work off all those calories.
